NIS shifting dominates Assembly
Pioneer News Service/ Bhubaneswar
The shifting of the proposed National Institute of Sciences issue once again
dominated the proceedings of the State Assembly on Thursday.
The Higher Education Minister Samir Dey in response to a question from Aswini
Patra and Bishnu Das said the shifting of the NIS has been a conspiracy by the
Central Government hatched in the wake of the ensuing election of West Bengal.
Mr Dey informed the house that the Speaker has already announced to constitute
a House Committee, which would Delhi to discuss the matter with the Prime
Minister. The Chief Minister Nveen Patnaik had already apprised the Prime
Minister the concern of the State over the issue and the PM has reportedly
assured Mr Patnaik that the NIS would not be shifted.
However, the Center in its affidavit maintained that there was no proposal for
establishing the NIS in Bhubaneswar.
He however, said the affidavit in the Orissa High Court on the shifting of the
NIS was not based on facts.
