Leaders, academics come together to demand NIS in Orissa

A number of academics, lawyers, medical practitioners, industrialists, MPs, retired bureaucrats, students and social activists organised a rally to voice their demand for setting up of the National Institute of Science (NIS) in the State. The rally, organised under the banner of Agamee Odisha, marched towards the Governor's house to press their demands.
More than a hundred and fifty people, who gathered at AG Square, later submitted a memorandum to Governor Rameshwar Thakur, urging him to intervene in the matter.

A delegation of five -- Padmashree Debi Prasanna Pattanaik, Mr DK Roy (Chairman, Kalinga Hospital & ex-DG Income Tax), Professor Digambar Mishra of the State University of Alabama USA, Mr LM Pattanaik (President, Nalco Employees' Union) and Prof SK Tripathy of Utkal University -- submitted the memorandum to the Governor.
