Report from Delhi on Dharana by Niranjan Sahoo
Friends,
The very heartening news from Delhi. As announced earlier, we put up a dharna near parliament street from 11.00am to 3.00 pm with a crowd of four hundred people coming from all parts of Delhi. We had a strong contigent from Bhubaneswar representing Agami Odisha. Several students from JNU, DU, IIT and other institutions also joined the dharna. Faculty from DU, JNU and other academic instituions took part in the rally. There were strong presence from Orissa professionals, media and lawyers. Even people from working communities came and expressed their solidarity. Almost all MPs joined with us in the dharna. Ms. Archana Nayak, Mr. Brajakishore Tripathy, Rudranarayan Pani, Prasanna Acharya, Dharmendra Pradhan, Sangita Singhdeo, BJ Panda, Kharabela Swain, Pramila Bohidar, Jual Oram among others participated and spoke to the crowd on NIS issue. But most surprise pack was Dr. Murli Manohar Joshi, the then HRD Minister who had played an instumental role came and addressed the crowd and media on NIS issue. He was scathing in attack on Arjun Singh for lying about NIS issue to Parliament and called up UPA government to stop politicising issue and mistreat Orissa. He assured to raise the issue in Parliament.
It was unanimously decided to keep the pressure on and fight it out until something positive happens. Our MPs have pledged to remain vigilant on the issue and leave no stone unturned in Parliament to bring justce to Oriya pride.
Lets keep the fight on top gear and never give up.
